Cleveland Kitchen

Cleveland Kitchen, a leader in fermented foods, is consolidating and expanding its production facility in the Central Kitchen Food Hub, a food incubator and accelerator on Carnegie Avenue in the Midtown neighborhood. The company was founded as Cleveland Kraut in 2014 by brothers Mac and Drew Anderson and their brother-in-law, Luke Visnic, all from Shaker Heights. Cleveland Kitchen focuses on creating fresh, flavorful fermented foods, including sauerkraut, kimchi, salad dressings, pickles and pickled red onions, distributed to more than 20,000 stores nationwide. Cleveland Kitchen believes that its most recent product addition – pickles – is its biggest opportunity for growth and profitability. CDA provided $10 million in federal New Market Tax Credits to offset the costs associated with relocating equipment, expanding production lines and insulating 30,000 sq. ft. of space to use as cold storage.  This expansion is creating 80 new permanent jobs and retaining 58 positions in Cleveland.

Job Creation & Community Empowerment

The project will generate over 80 new, well-paying FTE jobs with benefits and retain 45-58 more. Many roles will be accessible to residents in a severely distressed area with high unemployment and poverty.

Major Economic Investment & Business Growth

The expansion is fueled by a $10 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocation. Enabling Cleveland Kitchen, a rapidly growing company to significantly increase production capacity, reduce operational costs, and support projected multi-million dollar payroll and revenue growth.

Supports Strategic Revitalization & Local Industry
