Charter Steel Expansion

Completed: 2019

The expansion of Charter Steel’s wire rod production facility is helping the company to stay competitive in the U.S. steel industry.  Charter Steel, a division of Charter Manufacturing, is a leading American supplier and manufacturer of carbon and alloy steel bar, rod and wire products. They operate a fully integrated mini mill in Cuyahoga Heights that includes a state-of-the-art melt shop and a rolling mill. Specifically, the project invests in the “cut-to-length” bar market to further diversify its business and serve new markets, adding production flexibility for new and prospective customers. The new mill involved an investment of $153 million and represented the largest single investment in the family-owned company’s 81-year history.
