ArKiTainer Infill Development

CDA provided WRJ Developers a $300,000 predevelopment loan to secure construction financing for an innovative initiative to boost the future prosperity and vitality of the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood.  The project involves the creation of 20 duplexes (40 total units) on neighborhood lots acquired from the Cleveland Land Bank, about a half-mile from scenic Gordon Park.

WRJ’s $6.3 million ArKiTainer InFill Development is pioneering a novel approach, constructing multi-family duplex style homes, utilizing repurposed shipping containers. The developers’ reactive and sustainable housing solution is underway with its first home currently under construction. WRJ is planning an additional 40,000 square feet of housing as part of the next phase.

Located in an Opportunity Zone, the WRJ endeavor perfectly aligns with the St. Clair Superior Strategic Plan completed in 2021.  Of particular emphasis is the reinforcement of housing infrastructure and the attraction of supportive amenities and essential services such as a grocer.
