Cleveland Development Advisors (CDA), an affiliate of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, provided a $250,000 loan to facilitate the opening of The Cleveland Bagel Company’s second location on Cleveland’s east side. The new location at 7501 Carnegie will give Cleveland Bagel access to a larger food production facility allowing the company to expand its wholesale market. In addition, the retail operation will add a much-needed amenity to the Midtown neighborhood. “We are thrilled to welcome Cleveland Bagel to MidTown, adding another high-quality food destination to serve the growing base of employees and residents in our diverse neighborhood,” said Jeff Epstein, Executive Director of MidTown Cleveland. He went on to say, “Cleveland Bagel is an example of how many local entrepreneurs and small businesses have chosen to locate in MidTown because of its location, convenience, building stock, and unique sense of community.” One of four winners of the LeBron James produced, “Cleveland Hustles” which aired on CNBC in 2016, Cleveland Bagel’s original location in Ohio City is thriving and demand has outpaced production capacity. The search for a production kitchen and east side location has been ongoing, but financing the expansion was becoming a problem for the small outfit. “CDA was able to help facilitate much needed funding that traditional sources could not. With the help of CDA we will be able to expand our business, hire more people with a living wage, and help the community,” says co-founder Geoff Hardman. “That has always been our goal from day one, and we are happy that it is coming into reality for the second time. We look forward to being part of the ever-expanding revitalization of the mid-town community.” The new store is scheduled to begin delivery fresh, delicious bagels to customers this fall.
